Imam al-Shafii

Al-Shafi'i (767 to 820), the scholar, jurist and traditionist after whom the Shafi'i school of Sunni jurisprudence is named.[1] He is held to be the first to write a book on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence, al-Risala.[1]
