St. Kateri Tekakwitha
Feast day 14 July
Kateri Tekakwitha (1656 to 1680), a Mohawk and Algonquin woman who converted to Catholicism, baptised Catherine and known as Lily of the Mohawks and Protectress of Canada.[1] Committing to live as a virgin, she became known for her devotion to Jesus Christ and for her diligence and prayer.[1]
